Peer Foundational Training Series
Our organization was created by people who use drugs for people who use drugs. We have a long history of creating training and technical assistance with and for people with lived experience of using drugs and doing sex work. We work closely with those experiencing a range of intersecting discrimination that is exacerbated by drug-related stigma, for example, LGB/TNGC+ folks, People of Color, and People Living With HIV.
These training and skill-building sessions are aimed at helping people with lived experience elevate their leadership in this movement.
Syringe Service Programs in New York City
There are over a dozen syringe service programs in New York City that offer free sterile syringes and injection supplies to people who use drugs. If you’re looking for sterile syringes in New York, check out the below links to find the program that works best for you.
It’s Time to End the Overdose Crisis in New York
Harm reduction is the answer to ending overdose. We’ve partnered with End Overdose NY to advocate for policy recommendations that support evidence-based harm reduction programs throughout New York.
We’re working to:
1
Increase access to naloxone and medications for opioid use disorder
2
Promote awareness about fentanyl, and how to use safely if it’s in a drug supply
3
Educate communities about harm reduction strategies, including supervised consumption services
Lighthouse Learning Collective: Safe Havens for the LGB/TGNC+ Community
The Learning Lighthouse Collective creates space for strategy, support, and resources for LGB/TGNC+ people who use drugs. Bringing together harm reduction organizations and those that serve the LGB/TGNC+ community, we hope to reimagine what safety and care can look like for this community.
Decriminalize, Decarcerate, and Destigmatize Sex Trades
We are proud members of Decrim NY. This coalition of 20+ groups advocates to shape New York City and state policy and public opinion around people in the sex trades. Decrim NY seeks to decriminalize, decarcertate, and destigmatize sex work.
Start a Harm Reduction Program
Even though New York is no stranger to harm reduction, many communities still don’t have access to these life-saving programs. If you want to support the health of people who use drugs in your community, consider implementing a harm reduction program.
