Faith in Harm Reduction

Faith-Based Leadership for Harm Reduction

A partnership of Harm Reduction Coalition and Judson Memorial Church

Our Mission:

Strengthen support for harm reduction messages, principles, and practices that uphold the divinity and dignity of people who use drugs and which strengthen spiritual resources, health, and well-being for communities affected by the opioid crisis.

Our Purpose:

  • Build a network of faith leaders advancing responses to the opioid crisis that are rooted in compassion, dignity, and justice.
  • Center the leadership and wisdom of people with lived experience, particularly among communities of color.
  • Advocate for spiritual and theological approaches to address the opioid crisis and other harms of racialized drug policy.
  • Support public policies that expand harm reduction and other community led, evidence-based health and wellness opportunities for people who use drugs.
  • Challenge the root causes that increase vulnerability to drug related harm.
  • Encourage a movement of healing, resilience, and resistance among people who use drugs, the harm reduction community, and our allies
