Dominick V. Zurlo, Ph.D., Educational Psychology.

Dominick has been working in the substance use and infectious disease fields for over 25 years. He is the current Hepatitis and Harm Reduction Program Manager for the New Mexico Department of Health and is an Adjunct Professor at the University of New Mexico in the Individual, Family, and Community Education Department. He began his work in the field of substance use at the University of New Mexico Center on Alcoholism, Substance Abuse, and Addictions. He then worked with several different community organizations focused on helping marginalized populations. This included managing the Harm Reduction Outreach Team at Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless for several years. During this time, he first became involved in national policy and advocacy initiatives for improving the lives of individuals who inject. He began working at the New Mexico Department of Health in 2008, and since then, has been instrumental in expanding the availability of hepatitis prevention, syringe services, and overdose prevention education with naloxone distribution in New Mexico and nationally.
