ORN- Role of Structural Determinants of Health on access and availability to services
Training overview: As practitioners in the field of public health we are called to safeguard the health and well-being of the people and populations we serve, particularly those who are most vulnerable. The social determinants of health are a series of factors that influence people’s quality of life and knowing not only what they are, but also the impact they have on people allows us to have a more comprehensive, responsible and holistic professional practice. Working from a social determinants of health framework allows us to recognize and challenge systemic violence such as racism, poverty, homophobia or sexism that prevent participants from accessing quality care and services with the goal of ultimately centering the health and wellbeing of our participants.
