Organizational Overview

National Harm Reduction Coalition (NHRC) is a national advocacy and capacity-building organization that promotes health and justice for people and communities affected by drug use. National Harm Reduction Coalition creates spaces for dialogue and action that help heal the harms caused by racialized drug policies. Our efforts advance harm reduction policies, practices, and programs that address the adverse effects of drug use including overdose, HIV, hepatitis C, addiction, and incarceration. We work to uphold every person’s right to health and well-being, and their competence to participate in the public policy dialogue. 

Project Overview

Introduction to the project:

 

NHRC is in search of a consultant to work in collaboration with our Disability Justice Working Group and the Sr. Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to conduct a high-level access audit, provide recommendations, and consult on grant support for accessibility funding. 

 

NHRC values lived experience and strongly encourages disabled folks, BIPOC, LGB TGNC+ and people with lived experience in drug use and/or sex work to submit proposals.

NHRC plans to work with one or multiple consultants to: 

 

  • Conduct an initial access audit of the organization’s website, biennial conference, training and technical assistance initiatives. We are looking for a high-level audit to assess the top priorities for improvement and implementation across the organization. 
  • Provide recommendations to improve accessibility across the organization, with considerations for mobility, vision, hearing, neurodivergence, mental health, and other disabilities. 
  • Review the Disability Justice Working Group strategy. 

 

Timeline: Project completed by May 31, 2022

Budget: Total budget is $5,000

  • Consultant Background: A brief description of your approach to disability justice and accessibility, any connection you have to harm reduction, and any experience you have doing similar work in the past 5 years. 
  • Project Proposal: Proposed timeline, process overview, objectives, additional hard costs (if applicable), final deliverables, and any other details we need to know about your proposal.
