By addressing tobacco use alongside other substances, we can provide more holistic care and improve overall health outcomes for our clients. This training aims to explore the different modalities of tobacco harm reduction available on how harm reduction providers can integrate these to their current programming.

Training objectives:

  1. Understand the core principles of harm reduction and its application to combustible tobacco use.
  2. Learn the application of motivational interview strategies for how to engage in conversations about current tobacco use and potential harm reduction within existing Syringe Service Programs (SSP), Recovery Community Organization (RCOs), and Outpatient Treatment Program (OTPs) services.
  3. Discuss how to incorporate assessment questions on tobacco use and harm reduction readiness knowledge.
  4. Become familiar with multiple tobacco harm reduction strategies available to participants.
