Foundational Fridays – Syringe Access 101
This 2 -hour webinar is a part of our Foundational Fridays Series taking place every last Friday of the month from 12pm – 2pm EST, from July 2025 – June 2026.
This webinar will explore the critical role of syringe access in promoting public health and reducing harm within communities. Participants will gain an understanding of the evidence supporting syringe services programs (SSPs) and their benefits in preventing the transmission of bloodborne viruses, improving health outcomes, and enhancing community safety.
The session will cover best practices for syringe access, including proper disposal of used sharps and workforce safety, all within a harm reduction framework. Emphasis will be placed on integrating syringe access into health programs with compassion, respect, and a focus on public health goals.
By the end of the webinar, participants will be equipped to advocate for syringe access programs, understand their impact in various settings, and apply safe disposal techniques. Participants will also learn how to maintain a safe environment for both program participants and staff, fostering a culture of safety and well-being.
This webinar aims to strengthen participants’ ability to implement harm reduction strategies, supporting safer, more inclusive environments for individuals who use injection drugs and their communities.
