Foundational Fridays – MOUD 101

This 2 -hour webinar is a part of our Foundational Fridays Series taking place every last Friday of the month from 12pm – 2pm EST, from July 2025 – June 2026.

This webinar will provide an introduction to the fundamentals of drug treatment and Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD), with a particular emphasis on evidence-based treatments such as buprenorphine and methadone. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how these medications are used to support individuals in their recovery from opioid addiction.

Throughout the session, we will explore effective strategies for engaging with individuals about their substance use in a non-judgmental, empathetic manner, empowering them with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their treatment options. Emphasizing a harm reduction approach, we will discuss how to meet people where they are in their journey and provide accurate, compassionate information about available treatment options.

By the end of the webinar, participants will be equipped to explain the role of MOUD, such as methadone and buprenorphine, in the treatment of opioid use disorder, and will have the skills to utilize the Stages of Change model to assess an individual’s readiness for treatment. This will help facilitate personalized and respectful conversations around treatment options. Additionally, participants will learn how to discuss treatment strategies for individuals using other substances, including alcohol and cocaine, with a focus on harm reduction and integrated care approaches.

This session will equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to support individuals in accessing and navigating effective, non-coercive treatment options that align with their unique needs and goals for recovery
