People who use drugs, their loved ones and the greater San Francisco community used naloxone from the DOPE Project to reverse around 2,600 overdoses in 2019. Naloxone is a medication that can reverse an overdose from opioids including heroin, prescription pain pills and fentanyl.

Overdose Prevention Training in San Francisco

The DOPE Project offers overdose prevention training for groups that work with people who use drugs and may be at risk of overdose.

These trainings are ideal for teams at service and movement-building organizations, bars, nightlife venues, and events who want to learn:

How to recognize an overdose

What can increase risk of overdose

How to respond to an overdose with naloxone

How to develop and implement a protocol for overdose response

Naloxone for Concerned Community Members

If you’re a concerned community member who wants to be prepared in case you witness an overdose, head to the CBHS Pharmacy at 1380 Howard (at 10th Street), Monday-Friday between 9:00am and 3:30pm. The friendly pharmacists at CBHS will give you a free naloxone nasal kit and teach you how to use it to help during an overdose.
