Foundational Fridays – Safer Injecting 101

This 2-hour webinar is a part of our Foundational Fridays Series taking place every Friday from 12 pm – 2 pm from April 2022 – June 2022. This webinar focuses on the basics of injecting drugs more safely. We will review basic information about how safer injecting can reduce abscesses and other injection-related wounds, the transmission of bloodborne viruses for both HIV and hepatitis C, and reduce the chances of overdosing. The training will provide an overview of how to engage program participants/clients in conversations around the way they are injecting. Webinar participants will learn how to use Harm Reduction methods to engage with people who use drugs and better understand their experiences.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe how supplies and injection equipment are used for disease prevention.
  • Share harm reduction information tailored to the unique circumstances of a person who injects drugs.
  • Walk a program participant through the injecting process in a safer way.
