Harm Reduction Coalition Announces Rebrand with Creative Agency Joybyte

For more than 25 years, Harm Reduction Coalition has promoted the health and dignity of people who use drugs and redistributing resources and power to people impacted by structural violence. Harm Reduction Coalition’s work is groundbreaking and after 25 years, it’s time for a new look to support that innovative work.

In 2019, Harm Reduction Coalition issued a request for proposals (RFP) in search of a creative agency connected to our mission and capable of developing a captivating brand for more than an organization — for a movement.

The harm reduction movement spans the globe and across the U.S., Harm Reduction Coalition has supported movement-building with training and technical assistance, advocacy and policy work, and strategic campaigns that challenge stigma and build new narratives for people who use drugs.

“In the wake of the overdose crisis, Harm Reduction Coalition has experienced significant growth in the demand for our resources, expertise, and voice. As we enter our 26th year, we’re thrilled to announce that we’re completely overhauling our website so people can easily find information about harm reduction strategies like where to find naloxone, how to intervene when someone is over-amping on meth, or community-driven messaging like the Know Overdose campaign. We couldn’t be more excited to show how we’re evolving with a fresh look, new logo, compelling imagery, and cutting-edge resources.”

— Monique Tula, Executive Director of Harm Reduction Coalition

Harm Reduction Coalition is pleased to announce a partnership with Arizona-based creative agency Joybyte. Joybyte brought previous experience working with grassroots harm reduction organizations across the country, inspiring creative capabilities, and strong, relevant recommendations to the process.

“Harm Reduction Coalition’s work is critical to creating a world where marginalized people – including those who use drugs, engage in sex work or are vulnerable to structural violence – have access to the resources they need to live healthy lives built on a foundation of safety and dignity. Joybyte couldn’t be more honored to help position Harm Reduction Coalition at the forefront of the harm reduction movement, and impact countless lives across the nation.”

— Michelle Gerster, Co-Founder and VP of Operations Joybyte

The rebrand and website process includes a large community stakeholder team of more than 25 people across the country with lived experience in drug use and sex work, harm reduction program workers, advocates and policy experts. That community input is critical to shaping the direction of the project and offers unique opportunities for meaningful involvement. The new brand and website will launch by August of 2020, ahead of the biennial National Harm Reduction Conference in October 2020, to be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
