SUMMARY:Lighthouse Learning Series: Sex Ed for Kink: Harm Reduction Strategies for Nonconventional Sexual Practices
DESCRIPTION:Starting in February 2025 and running until June 2025, we will be covering a series of queer harm reduction topics with the goal of creating a more inclusive movement.\nPriority is given to those living and working in New York due to program scope. However, the series will be held virtually and is open to all those who would like to build on their harm reduction knowledge to provide better services to LGB/TGNC+ folks!\nSession description:Kinks and fetishes are increasingly recognized in the mainstream, but not everyone knows how to practice safely. The risks of more conventional sexual practices are routinely discussed. We should be addressing kink the same way. In this program, we will talk about some of the most common types of kinks, the risks associated with each, and harm reduction. We will also review consent and negotiation, which may be more complex when it comes to certain kinks. The goal of this program is to improve health, safety, and enjoyment for folks who engage in kink, and to help professionals gain an understanding of kink risk reduction.\n\n\nFacilitators: \nKim Adamski is a Hartford, CT based sexual health educator with over 10 years experience. She has worked with a variety of populations, including the LGBTQ+ community, college students, youth, and state prison inmates. She aims to provide inclusive, comprehensive, and pleasure-centered sexual health education.\nKim has been featured as a speaker across Connecticut and nationally by such organizations as the National Alliance for Mental Illness of Connecticut, Furpocalypse, the University of Connecticut, and the Youth Sexpert Program.\nRegister ( http://bit.ly/LLS2025-3 )\n
