HRC PARTNERS WITH SF POLICE TO PREVENT OVERDOSE
Under a pilot program San Francisco police officers in the Central, Southern, Mission, Northern and Tenderloin Police Stations will be trained by Harm Reduction Coalition’s DOPE project on how to recognize life-threatening opioid overdose, and administer intranasal naloxone as an antidote.
Eliza Wheeler from Harm Reduction Coalition’s DOPE project said of this new initiative
“This was a great opportunity for collaboration between public health and public safety. We are excited to have been a part of the design and implementation of the SFPD’s pilot naloxone program and hope that this results in lives saved here in San Francisco”
A press release from the SFPD states “We are in the business of saving lives. Naloxone will help us accomplish our mission.”
