Taeko Frost to Join Harm Reduction Coalition as Western Regional Director

Harm Reduction Coalition is proud to announce that Taeko Frost will be joining our Oakland, CA team on July 17th as our new Western Regional Director. In this new role, Taeko will spearhead the expansion of our harm reduction training, technical assistance, and capacity-building services across the Bay Area and California; advocate for harm reduction policy priorities; and provide leadership on harm reduction research and evaluation.

Harm Reduction Coalition’s Executive Director, Monique Tula, said, “We are beyond ecstatic that Taeko is joining our team! Working alongside powerhouses Eliza Wheeler and Tanagra Melgarejo, Taeko brings her progressive leadership skills to re-envision the California Harm Reduction Training Institute and expand our capacity to drive harm reduction training, research, and public policy.”

Taeko Frost Bio:

Originally from Portland, OR, Taeko Frost, DrPH, is a harm reduction advocate with over 15 years of experience in public health. Most recently, Taeko served as the Executive Director of Washington Heights CORNER Project in New York City. Taeko has helped lead the movement for safer drug consumption services by providing technical support and community organizing in several cities across the country. She co-directed and co-produced two documentaries on public injection drug use, Everywhere But Safe: Public Injecting in New York and The Caring Community: Ithaca and the Movement for Supervised Injection Facilities, and has co-authored several harm reduction peer-reviewed articles. Prior to her work in harm reduction, she provided clinical services at Community Healthcare Network of NYC and Planned Parenthood of the Columbia Willamette. Taeko earned a Doctorate in Public Health in health policy and management from the CUNY School of Public Health and Health Policy.
