The House of Representatives is voting on the American Health Care Act (AHCA) tomorrow! This disastrous bill would eviscerate crucial health care access provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Medicaid. The ACHA would result in 24 million Americans, including many suffering under the overdose crisis, to lose access to care and substance use treatment.
With over 50,000 fatal overdoses a year, we simply can’t afford to go back to an era where substance use treatment and mental health care were rarely, if ever, covered by insurers. The AHCA would make it harder for people who use drugs to access care, and halt progress towards ending HIV and eliminating hepatitis C.
Your voice is more important now than ever. Tell Congress we can’t afford to go backwards – a vote for the AHCA is a vote for more overdose deaths.
GET THE FACTS:
Impact of the AHCA on access to lifesaving substance use treatment
Medicaid’s role in addressing the opioid epidemic
The House’s Obamacare repeal bill would strand people who use drugs without access to care
GOP’s ObamaCare replacement would make opioid crisis worse

Hello, my name is _____ and I live in [city & state, zip code.] I am deeply concerned with the ongoing opioid and overdose crises decimating our community. I am calling to urge that you vote against the American Health Care Act. If this bill passes, even more Americans will lose their lives to overdoses because they were unable to get the treatment they needed. I urge you to support families struggling with substance use issues and oppose the America Health Care Act.
