Erica Poellot has worked in the field of harm reduction since 1998, with a particular interest in the intersections of intimate partner violence (IPV), sexual assault and substance use among women and LGBTQ communities. Erica has extensive experience in program management, direct services, and advocacy with substance users and survivors of violence, including managing a domestic violence shelter, coordinating sexual assault, stalking and intimate partner violence crisis line and accompaniment services, and developing a specialized counseling center for LGBT IPV survivors. Passionate about the gap in culturally competent services for substance using women who experience interpersonal violence, Erica relocated from Los Angeles to New York in 2004 to pursue graduate studies. She received an MSW from Columbia University in 2007 and an MDiv from Union Theological Seminary in 2010, both focused on trauma studies and drug use. Erica joined Harm Reduction Coalition in 2006, and currently manages the organization’s fundraising activities.
