Harm Reduction Coalition is a national advocacy and capacity-building organization that promotes the health and dignity of individuals and communities impacted by drug use. Harm Reduction Coalition advances policies and programs that help people address the adverse effects of drug use including overdose, HIV, hepatitis C, addiction, and incarceration.. We are now seeking a full-time Curriculum Writer/Trainer to join its growing team.

Specific Education, Certification and Skill Requirements:

The Harm Reduction Coalition (HRC) is seeking a candidate who is detail-oriented, knowledgeable about current trends in HIV prevention, has excellent written/verbal communication skills and knowledge/experience in needs assessments, curriculum design and delivery, and monitoring and evaluation. Candidate must have at least two years of experience in the field of HIV/AIDS or harm reduction related to training methods and health promotion. Candidate must have a Master’s degree in public health, social work, nonprofit management or other related field, or equivalent experience. Familiarity with harm reduction strategies and their applications is preferred.

Job Description:

Harm Reduction Coalition is seeking a Curriculum Writer/Trainer for its CDC-funded HIV Prevention Capacity Building Initiative. The Curriculum Writer/Trainer will be responsible for:

  • On-going needs assessments to determine gaps in Harm Reduction Coalition’s training offerings;
  • Curriculum design and development, including development of all related materials (e.g., PowerPoint slide sets, participant manuals);
  • Pilot delivery of newly developed trainings;
  • Delivery of existing trainings to determine update needs and as needed;
  • Development of tools and protocols for assessing training efficacy and participant satisfaction;
  • Training and supporting staff and consultants in delivering new trainings;
  • Participation in all relevant staff meetings;
  • Representation of Harm Reduction Coalition at key regional and national conferences and workshops.

Extensive work travel is required for this position.
